Babywearing

I just found Austin's babywearing group on Yahoo Groups! I love wearing Addie in the Ergo and as of yesterday, our Zolowear ring sling. We bought the ring sling in November from Baby Earth and Addie HATED it. Every time I would give it another chance, she would cry until I took her out. So I gave it one more try on Saturday and imagine my surprise when she was all smiles the whole time! I tried to do the kangaroo hold so she could see out, but I think it needs a little more work before I master it. I messed with it a few times at home before going out. It's so easy to pop her in the sling and much lighter and more convenient than bringing her carseat in. We took her to Schlotzsky's and Bed, Bath, and Beyond and she didn't fuss once. The gift-wrapper at BB&B thought Addie was so precious she was practically begging me to leave Addie up front while we shopped. Um, I appreciate the thought, but no thanks? Silly people.

(Please excuse the crappy iPhone picture... also, this pic was my first attempt at just having her IN the sling, so I hadn't yet fixed it to wear her correctly. I honestly didn't think she'd last more than a few seconds so I made Zac snap the pic asap!!)

Shop til you drop.. SUCCESS!!

Addie and I spent literally the entire day shopping... and it was awesome!! Amanda, a fabulous friend from college is expecting a baby girl in March and wanted some advice and tips for baby items. I was all in. First off, I love shopping, especially if I'm not buying. Second, it's shopping for BABY stuff. How do you say no to that!? Here's a time line of our day...

We started off the day by meeting at Steak 'n Shake. Amanda was running late which was actually perfect because A had been sleeping at home when it was time to leave so I knew she would be hungry when she woke up. As we waited I changed her and fed her in the backseat. Amanda got there just as I was finishing burping her.

We went to my favorite store Baby Earth and just like the last time I took A, she screamed while we were there. Dangit, and I wanted to use the Ergo. Oh well, Amanda got her adorable Dwell Studio Sparrow bedding. (I must admit, I'm a little jealous. It's beautiful!!)

We thought A needed a nap so we chose to go to Buy Buy Baby and hope she would fall asleep. She did. (YES!!) Once we got close, we realized we were starving so we wanted to eat at Carinos. I was nervous taking A into a restaurant for fear that she would fuss and cry so I fed her in the car before we walked in, which was perfect because preggo had to pee. New diaper, newly fed. Let's roll! A was mostly awake while we were eating but slowly started to drift off about the time we were finishing up.

We drove across the street to Buy Buy Baby where we spent close to an hour in the baby abyss. If you haven't been there before, it's owned by Bed, Bath & Beyond and has everything from Graco ($) to Bugaboo ($$$$). Amanda wanted to buy the UppaBaby Vista but couldn't decide on a color. I just smiled. A slept the entire time!

When we left we both decided we NEEDED Starbucks so we got our drinks and off we went back to Baby Earth so Amanda could buy her Chicco Keyfit30 in Miro carseat. A finally woke up so I changed her (twice) and fed her again before it was time for us to go home.

All in all, we had a wonderful day. I was anxious to take her out but she was an angel. Now I have the confidence to do it again!!

Uppababy Vista

On Saturday, I dragged Zac to Round Rock in a quest to find the beloved Baby Earth boutique. Of course, we had to stop at Taco Shack before we could even begin to think about shopping. Twenty minutes later, we were on our way.

I must say, by the first step inside the store, I was hooked. I knew right then and there this was the place I want to register at. At Baby Earth, I won't get made fun of for cloth diapering, or making my own baby food, or NOT wanting a travel system! I can buy organic sheets for my baby and not worry about a matching quilt! For my bottle rack, I can get a plastic "sheet" of grass. Simply put, I'm in freaking heaven.

So, back to the meaning of my post. I had made the executive decision that a BOB jogging stroller was in our baby's best interest. However, I wasn't sure how to approach the price with Zac yet. It's then that I spotted the infamous Bugaboo and Uppababy strollers. I had a plan.

"Oh Zac... look at this stroller and tell me how much you think it would cost. There's the price on the handle, can you see it?" I'm grinning mischievously, thinking, "If he sees the price of THIS, he will totally see how reasonable a BOB is. I'm so smart it kills me."

Yeah... well, that backfired. Yes, his eyes widened upon seeing the price, but then he started playing with it. To make matters worse, the salesperson comes over and starts showing us even MORE incredible features. I can tell by the look in his eyes, my husband is S-O-L-D! He looked at me and said, "Can we take it today?"

My friends, it now looks like we will be cruising around the neighborhood and Target in style. We just have to find one with a price tag we can mutually agree with.

Best part: There's a woman in San Antonio selling her 2007 UBV for $275. IwantIwantIwantIwant!! Road trip! :::bats eyelashes toward Zac:::
