Botanical Serenity

I know I'm new at this but if you had to choose would it be this room or the previous post, Hollywood Elegance? I can't decide on the chairs or the rugs, that's why there are two. Zac is no help, he'd be happy with either!

  1. I like this one better. With the green chair and the neutral art (instead of the blue). Maybe even green candles that match the green chair in the hurricanes. And maybe pull the orange (or even the red) out of the decorative piece for a few accents. I'm so jealous of your decorating, so I'll gladly give input and decorate vicariously through you! ;)

  2. Those two pieces on the bottom are rugs, albeit hard to tell because they aren't in perspective. I need to post pictures of our art, because really, those are what I'm using to set the tone for the entire room.

Don't be jealous of my decorating because it's only ideas! Who knows when I'll actually have the time (and money!) to put my ideas into action. The one thing holding me back is paint... I'm terrified of screwing up, which is silly considering paint is allegedly the easiest thing to change. I don't know how to paint around rounded corners or to paint so that nothing drips or splatters on molding. Ahh...the torture.

  3. OK, well rugs or art, I still like the tan one better, and my statement about pulling out the colors to accent still applies.

And, OK, painting I can totally give real advice on, because that I have done! Many times! I have several tips for paint. One, sample size paint at Home Depot. Narrow it down to a few colors, get the samples, slap them on the wall and see what you like. Two, pick out lots of chips you think are close, and compare them to what you're trying to match in natural light, preferably from the window in the actual room. The lights in the store skew the colors. Third, a painter's two best friends; Scotch painter's tape and a plastic tarp thing. That'll keep it off the molding, even if you do have little drips. As far as the dripping or splattering, don't put too much paint on the roller/brush and you should be fine. Painting really is pretty easy. I mean, if I can do it, I'm sure you can! :)
